Frequently asked questions
What services do you offer at EWB Counseling?
At EWB Counseling, I specialize in supporting adults navigating grief, caregiver burnout, parenting stress, and life transitions. My practice is rooted in attachment-focused therapy and nervous system regulation techniques, helping clients manage overwhelming emotions, exhaustion, and identity shifts. I offer telehealth therapy across Colorado and in-person sessions in Northwest Denver at True North Acupuncture within Well/Set. If you’re seeking compassionate, evidence-based support for grief, burnout, or major life changes, I’m here to help.
How do I schedule a therapy session with you?
You can schedule a consultation through my client portal, or contact me directly at 720.663.9536 or erica@ewbcounseling.com. I’d love to connect and discuss how I can best support you.
What kind of therapeutic approach do you use?
My approach is integrative and holistic, blending Emotionally Focused Individual Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Mindfulness-Based Therapy. I recognize that grief, caregiver fatigue, and parenting burnout are deeply personal experiences where joy and sorrow often coexist. I focus on helping you process these challenges, regulate your emotions, and build coping strategies with compassion, curiosity, and a touch of humor.
Do you offer telehealth counseling sessions or in-person therapy?
Yes, I offer both telehealth and in-person therapy:
Telehealth therapy (available statewide in Colorado) – Get professional mental health support from the comfort of your home.
In-person sessions (Denver, CO) – I see clients in a calm, therapeutic setting at True North Acupuncture within Well/Set in Northwest Denver.
How long are therapy sessions, and how frequently should I schedule them?
Sessions are 50 minutes long, though longer sessions can be arranged. The frequency depends on your individual needs—some clients benefit from weekly therapy, while others schedule bi-weekly sessions. The key to success in therapy is consistency, so we’ll work together to create a plan that supports your goals and fits your lifestyle.
What is your philosophy around grief, burnout, and emotional well-being?
I believe in processing rather than “healing” or “recovering” from grief, burnout, or major life changes. Grief, caregiving stress, and identity shifts aren’t problems to be solved but experiences to be acknowledged, navigated, and integrated. My role is to help you process emotions, build resilience, and create sustainable coping tools in a safe, validating space.
Do you work with children and families, or is your practice focused on adults?
I specialize in therapy for adults only, providing individualized support for grief, loss, caregiver burnout, and life transitions.
What should I expect during my first therapy session?
Your first session is an opportunity to get to know each other. We’ll explore:
What brings you to therapy
Your personal and emotional goals
Any immediate concerns you’d like to address
This session is a judgment-free space where you can share as much (or as little) as you feel comfortable.
Do you accept insurance or offer sliding scale fees?
I currently operate as a private pay practice, but I can provide a superbill for potential insurance reimbursement. I also offer limited sliding-scale fees for those in financial need. Please contact me to discuss payment options.
I feel nervous about starting therapy. Is that normal?
Yes! It’s completely normal to feel uncertain when beginning therapy. Whether this is your first time working with a therapist or you’ve been in therapy before, I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where you can explore your emotions at your own pace.
What are some of your favorite grief and burnout support resources?
I often recommend:
HeartLight Center – Provides grief support groups for those coping with loss.
What’s Your Grief – Offers articles, resources, and tools for understanding grief.
My blog post on grief resources – I’ve compiled a list of books, podcasts, and local organizations to help you find additional support.
If you're struggling with grief, caregiver burnout, or parenting exhaustion, know that you don’t have to go through it alone. I'm here to support you.
